Stamping is one of the metal pressure processing methods, which is to use the press machine and die to exert external force on the plate, strip, bar, pipe and profiles and other materials, to make it change with plastic deformation or separation, machining the workpiece to the required shape and size . Stamping billet is mainly the hot rolled and cold rolled metal sheet, strip and bar material. It is divided into hot stamping and cold stamping according to the stamping processing temperature. Hot stamping applies to the plate and bar processing which with high deformation resistance and poor plasticity; Cold stamping is carried out at room temperature, commonly use for sheet stamping. It is one of the main methods of metal material plasticity processing (or pressure processing). According to the process of stamping, it is divided into two categories: separation process and forming process. The separation process is also called blanking, which aims to separate the stamping parts from the sheet material along a certain contour, and ensure the quality requirements of the separation section. The purpose of the forming process is to make the material plastic deformation under the condition of not being broken, and manufacture the workpiece into the required shape and size.
The die used for stamping is called stamping die, which is a special tool for batch processing of metal materials into the required stamping parts. The die is very important in the stamping process, and the advanced mold and stamping process are the foundation of high quality stamping parts production.
Stamping parts has the characteristics of thin, uniform, light and strong. Because we are using precision molds, so the accuracy of the workpiece is up to micron grade. Cold stamping parts generally do not need cutting, or only need machining slightly. Hot stamping precision and surface state is lower than that of the cold stamping parts.
In the process of stamping, we adopt compound die, especially the stamping technology of multi position progressive die, it can be finished in one press machine on multichannel stamping process, realizing the automatic production of material uncoiling, roll flattening, blanking to shaping and finishing.
Compared with other methods of mechanical processing and plastic processing, stamping process has many unique advantages both in technology and economy.
(1) The stamping process has the advantages of high production efficiency, good working conditions, low production cost, and convenient operation.
(2) Stamping die ensures the size and shape accuracy of the stamping parts, and generally do not damage its surface quality, so the stamping parts have stable quality and good compatibility.
(3) Stamping technology can process a large size range and complex shape parts. And because of the material hardening effect of cold deformation in the process of stamping, the stamping strength and stiffness are higher.
(4) Generally there is no chip broken material in the process of stamping, so the material consumption is less.
